I am Jay G. Andrews III, a proud Houston native. Graduating from M.B. Smiley High School in 1989, I embarked on a seven-year minor league career in professional baseball, having been drafted by the Kansas City Royals straight out of high school.
As my baseball career winded down, I transitioned to a meaningful role with the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department on West Dallas St. in Houston. For several years, I supervised Harris County's most violent youth offenders, making a powerful impact on young men and women considered candidates for the "Prison Pipeline."
Subsequently, I began my career in Aldine ISD at Compass – Alternative School DAEP, serving as an English Teacher for four years. Following this, I dedicated four years as a select baseball coach at Baseball USA/Marucci. In 2013, I returned to the classroom in the Houston Independent School District, working at Forest Brook Middle School (2013-2018) and Secondary DAEP (2019-2024) as a School Counselor.
With 15 years in education (10 years as a classroom teacher and 5 years as a school counselor), I joined the Dueitt Team in Spring ISD in 2024. I am enthusiastic about assisting our students in developing strategies for Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). Additionally, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by the state of Texas, ensuring that parents and all stakeholders can trust that their children will receive the best care possible in Spring ISD. I look forward to contributing to the success of our students and the Spring ISD community.
